MIDTOWN USA 4X V2.0
Welcome to Midtown USA 2019, a full featured 4x map with accurately scaled file sizes (many 4x maps use the standard game size map weight, gdm and grle files, causing poor performance) and full Seasons compatibility… a seasonsmask has been added to the map and all placeables have been edited to work with Seasons as well… foliage layers will change colors according to the season and the waterways and the lake will freeze over if the ground temps are below freezing, and folks will have to light their fireplaces… Additionally, a floodplane script has been added to the map to allow the lake and waterway levels to rise as it rains, all the way up to flood stage if the rain is heavy enough. When the sun comes out, the water levels will start to recede, back down to their normal levels.
This map includes the Multi Terrain Angle feature for realistic field texture appearance when working the soil, also includes custom ground textures and crop textures, as well as custom lighting. (Seasons overrides any map lighting settings, however, in favor of its own) The map also utilizes a custom distance scenery terrain mesh to simulate the rolling hills off in the distance all around the map. (distance mesh changes color with the seasons snow)
In this map, the individual GSI bin, Butler bin, Brock bin & the Large bin use the new script from GtX to allow any grain crop to be stored in the bin, unlike before, when only one grain type was allowed. Due to the new script, ONLY one grain may be stored at a time, to switch to a different grain, all of the original grain must be removed first, as in real life. Standing in front of the output auger will cause info to appear in the F1 menu, showing the graintype that is currently in the bin, as well as the amount of that grain and the percentage full.
Also in this map, as first premiered in Nebraska Lands, is true dynamic mud… there are places, like the water puddles around the map, where it is always muddy… however, in other places, after a rain (and during) the ground will become muddy… this mod really comes to life when running Seasons, as it responds to the moisture levels in the ground, more moisture equals more mud.
This map, as in Nebraska Lands USA, incorporates baleable corn stalks… when harvesting your corn with a combine, you may switch on the windrow, which will lay down a corn stalks swath. This may be either baled up for cattle bedding or to sell, or may be collected with a loading wagon to use at the Razwood Factory to make pre-compost.
Also like Nebraska Lands, this map incorporates alfalfa as an additional crop type… alfalfa may be mown, windrowed and baled, same as grass, to feed your animals or may be collected with a loading wagon to be used to fill the fermenting silos to make silage…
This map embraces the many new features of the 2019 game, much of the land is buyable, including all the field areas as well as several wooded or empty lots around the map, even a couple of the grass lots located in the town. There are transport missions, hauling pallets of stuff from one place to another, also field missions on most of the fields. There is a log sell point on the map at the old sawmill up in the hills northeast of town… just drop off your logs at the designated area to get paid. There are several forested areas around the map to buy and jump into logging…
All of the player usable farms on the map are built out at game start, when buying a farm, you get all the objects on that parcel of land, which you may then keep or sell, at your discretion. All objects on each of the player farms can be sold off… a few objects, such as custom fence sections and animal pens, may not be re-purchased, as they are custom fit to the terrain of that particular farm…
Also new to this map are the custom trains… as in Nebraska Lands, this map also features GtX’s great train script, which allows multiple trains to run on the same tracks at various times of the day… additionally, the train signal lights change from green to red and back again depending on the movement of the passing trains… And, look carefully, at different times you may even spot a jumbo jet flying east or west high in the sky, with visible contrails…
This version of the map also includes configuration for the Precision Farming DLC… a custom soil map is built in simulating real life soil conditions in this area… also, configuration info is built in for the additional fruit type of alfalfa… To allow the correct functioning of the fill types anhydrous and compost as fertilizer with the DLC, a custom edited version of the PF DLC is included with the files which accompany this map.
Welcome to the lower Missouri area of the USA…
Located in the midwest, the land is hilly and stretches for miles in all directions… there is rich farmland here and land is cheap… Now you can journey to this area and enjoy the farming experience for yourself. You begin with adequate equipment, but to work well and be successful, you must become profitable and expand. There is no sugarcane on this map… it is not available as a crop type and will not be available no matter what GEO is used… this is for realism as sugarcane cannot grow here, this far to the north. There is a small apple orchard to the west, across the waterway, you can buy the land and raise apples to sell at the Farmer’s Market… You can also buy more apple trees to expand your orchard or to start a new one elsewhere on the map…
All of your farming supplies, such as fertilizer and seeds, must be bought at the various sellpoints (no seed or fertilizer triggers at the farms) Fuel storage is available on the farms, with a small amount to get you started, for more, use the universal pack fuel trailer to refill from town. For those that prefer to fertilize using anhydrous ammonia there is a dedicated sell point at the liquid fertilizer sell point. As premiered in Emerald Coast USA, in this map, anhydrous is a specific fill type, not the usual “liquidFertilizer” pretending to be anhydrous… this means you need specialized equipment to use and apply the anhydrous to your fields, where once applied, it will function as normal fertilizer.
There are fillable storage tanks on the main farm for liquid fertilizer, herbicide and anhydrous… Fill them to store these supplies right on the farm, a small amount may be present in them when you buy the farm they reside on. Also, there are storage silos specifically for lime, fertilizer or seeds that must be filled the same way… these special silos use the same GtX script allowing only ONE of the 3 different fillTypes to be in the silo at any time… All of these special silos and tanks maybe purchased in the store and placed elsewhere on the map…
The animal pens are pre-configured to use the GtX Animal Pen Extension mod… if you have this mod in your folder and active at game start, the animal pens will have custom water valves and spouts already set up and ready to use. Additionally, the cattle pen, the pig pen and the BGA digestate trigger are set up to have compatibility with the Manure Mod, although this mod is not required… they will work just fine without the mod as well.
There is plenty of work here, so enjoy farming in Midtown, USA!
• you start the game at a contractor’s yard in the small town, with only your custom truck to drive around, take GOOD care of it… in “New Farmer” mode you have some nice equipment, a gift to get you going, although you own no land or farms… in the two hard modes, you get nothing but some money… but, land is cheap here and there are lots of opportunities to pick up some contracts to do… work wisely…
• Water is available from the main farm water tank (although you could have one built at your other farms as well) or from the waterway and lake for free… Farmland will sell bulk fertilizer and for those production fans, they will buy your excess fertilizer around behind the building. At Farmland’s offsite warehouse, over near the Flour Mill, they will sell you liquid fertilizer and herbicide from inside, and at the next door facility, they will sell you anhydrous as well… Farmland also accepts bulk compost from you at their main facility, and they pay a premium for all that you can bring them. Fuel is available at the Phillips 66 station north of town, at the country store downtown or at the Massey Ferguson dealer (for a premium price, of course) Bulk seeds can be purchased at Pioneer Seeds, down by the train tracks, just south of town. Over at Midtown Feed you can purchase premixed pigfood… The animal dealer always has more manure and slurry than they would like, you can get either there very cheap, almost free… Another local farmer outside of town to the east will sell you bulk oats or wheat at a cheap price… Another farmer northwest of town will sell you bulk sugarbeets at a great price…
• There is custom traffic on this map, edited for faster speed without tinkering with the game itself and messing up other maps… definitely do not pull out in front of them! The traffic will make randomized choices at some intersections and even stop. Also, several vehicles are parked at various locations (during the work day) and leave at night.
• The dealer repair bay and lobby, the granary sellpoints, the fertilizer, lime, seed and anhydrous sellpoints and the garden center, the dairy and the rootcrop sellpoints all have timed barriers which open at either 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM and close at either 6:00 PM or 9:00 PM… no entry is permitted into these triggers before or after hours, the hours are posted at each facility…
• The Harvestor and Cement silos function again as fermenting silos, this time using the great script by GtX… Ensure to have the included HarvestorSilo and Cement Silo mods in the folder and active when first starting your gameplay… the silos take grass, alfalfa and chaff and will slowly convert these to silage, adjusting their ferment times according to season length if playing with Seasons. Use the small Batco auger (Batco Auger pack included with the map mods) to fill the silo blowers ifnot using side discharge forage wagons…
• Two of the bunker silos are modified to produce compost rather than silage, the fermenting time and compacting processes are the same… They take precompost, which is produced at the Razwood Factory down by the BGA, which accepts manure, straw, sugarbeet, potato or cornstalks to make the precompost for the bunkers.
• There is one of GtX’s fantastic underground storage bunkers located northwest of town… it holds the rootcrops or woodchips… And one of the aboveground storage silos from Emerald Coast USA, also using his great script, they will hold only one fruit at a time, to put a different fruit in there, first the original must be emptied out… stand by the front to have info pop up into F1 showing fruittype and amount currently stored in there. (the underground storage module is not buyable in the store)
• New in Midtown USA is flour production using GtX’s wonderful script, no need for GC or other production mods to use. First, you must buy the small plot of land next to the Midtown Flour Mill, then, during their normal business hours, you may bring your wheat, barley or oats and dump into the dump point, which holds up to 50000 L of product at one time. Then, as the production progresses, pallets of flour will spawn around front of the main building, up to 8 at a time. Remove these and sell them over at Valley Shipping for a great price…
• There is also a corn dryer silo system, premiered on South Island Farm, integrated into the main silo system at the arable farm and the large silo system at the dairy farm… also using GtX’s great script. You can buy pallets of propane to fuel the dryer, then dump in your corn and it will dry it for you… sell at the Valley Farmer’s COOP. If you do not want to mess with drying your corn, you may sell the regular corn directly at the COOP as usual. There is also a bulk propane purchase point at the Farmland facility, for use with trailers modded to accept the filltype “propane”.
There are several sellpoints to sell stuff:
• Valley Farmer’s COOP – wheat / barley / canola / corn / sunflower / soybean / oat / dryCorn
• Agri Wholesalers – wheat / canola / sunflower
• Midtown Feed – barley / corn / oat/ soybean
• Farmland – compost
• Midtown Heat & Energy – woodchips / biobales
• Agri Beet Sales – sugarBeet
• Midtown Potato Sorters – potato
• Valley Wool Shippers – wool
Also, there is a cotton bale drop off point in town in the industrial block, to sell your bales… Regular straw, corn stubble, alfalfahay or hay bales may be sold at the animal dealer, at the side of the office… Also, there is a farmer east of town in the hills who will buy your bales for a better price, and he also takes grass and alfalfa bales as well, although he has no use for corn stubble bales…
To use this map, unzip the MT2_UNZIPME file and place ALL of the included files into your mod folder and remember to activate them for proper functioning of the map… THE MAP WILL THROW NUMEROUS ERRORS IF ALL MODS ARE NOT IN THE FOLDER AND ACTIVE AT FIRST GAME… the only included mods not required are the Farm King and Brandt augers, but, they are quite useful for filling and unloading the individual grain bins…
Disclaimer: this is a highly detailed map, using many different scenery objects and several custom textures to achieve visual realism, and as such will require a strong, high spec PC to run… especially if you have many mods on the farm. The only solution to this issue is to not use any mods and/or turn the settings down. Additionally, to avoid unforeseen issues and conflicts, please have ONLY this map in the mod folder as having multiple maps in the folder will cause issues as the game loads all the scripts from all the maps, including the active one…
IMPORTANT: As this map has a built-in GEO to simulate the conditions here, in the Midwest, there is NO NEED to use a custom GEO… in fact, issues can and may result from doing this.
